Located in Walloon 60km west of Brisbane City, Stage 1 is the development of a portion of an existing cattle property. Located close to the school and rail, it included medium and small allotments with medium density development at a later stage. The ground conditions were black soil with challenges related to a large shrink-swell of the material when wet and as it dries. In addition, the highly dispersive material required large sediment dams and automatic flocculation units to maintain the required parameters for water to be released from the site.
The work includes the widening of both sides of Karrabin Rosewood Rd to allow turning traffic under traffic controls.
Rohl Road was to be completely upgraded and being the only access to the subdivision it posed major access problems. Managing the work being completed with the major deliveries of materials, people was challenging. It was achieved by a high level of UHF communications to maintain safety and promote production.
